Star-filled Sky
posted on: Tuesday, Dec. 01, 2009
It was 2:30 am Sunday...I could hear the family with us in the room snoring. I could not sleep so I stood up..my back ached lying on the floor..I looked at Tashi.. glad that he was able to sleep... by this time the treacherous rains had also finally gone away. I went towards the window and looked up to the sky. The cold breeze calmed me..the stars filled the sky... It was so beautiful.
"Lord, I may not understand why this happened..and I am uncertain how much longer it will take for this flood to subside. Will we still have food while we stay in this house?" I prayed. A lot of questions needed to be answered but the only thing I was certain of.. is that God is MY God, my father... and that He is mighty to save. I read in the book "Prayer of Jabez" how Jabez asked God to bless him in 1 Chronicles 4:10. He has been called "pain" (Jabez means pain) and being named like that is humiliating.. it's like somebody calling you "pandak" or "sakitin" by your bully classmates. Naming a person in Hebrew culture is like prophesying the destiny of the child....But Jabez depended on God and prayed that God's perfect destiny would rule in His life asking God to bless him and refusing to accept that he was created for any less. And God honored his prayer God blessed him and so he became more honorable than his brothers.. Because of that story, I learned that asking God's blessing is not a selfish prayer. It is actually a humble prayer that acknowledges our need for God's blessing in our lives and that without him, we are nothing.. Reading the Bible also taught me the power of the "Word".... God made the universe and the Earth just by speaking the word... that's how powerful declarations are. And so I started declaring blessings upon my life and my family as I looked up to that star-filled sky. I spoke with conviction the words and the promises of God in the Bible and declared it in my life. (well, I didn't speak too loud so that the other family in the room sleeping wouldn't hear me.. or else, they probably would think I'm crazy..heheheh) And so I prayed and claimed the promise of Proverbs 6:31...."Lord you said that what the thief has stolen (or destroyed) you will return it seven fold. I pray that you would bless me, my family and my baby Tashi... you will enlarge my territory and I will be able to bless a lot of people because of your blessings flowing through and in me..." I felt God's spirit was there as I prayed...and his peace enveloped me. Here are the accounts of God's blessings after that morning I talked to God. + Monday after the flood at 3am.. We were rescued.. our friends booked us a room at EDSA-Shangrila Hotel. When we arrived, we were served yummy yummy gourmet food :) Totally beat the half boiled rice we had to cook on the balcony during the floods.
our things on the street in Pasig after the storm Ondoy
+ Thursday after the flood: We found a really really nice house in a very nice village in Quezon City (it's double the size of our previous house..and it's walking distance trinoma and sm north) :) puro "Nice " no?
our room at Pasig.. Packing up to move to our new place in Q.C.
It was way way way way better than our house in Pasig. And we just needed to pay more or less the same amount of rent we were paying before.. (mahabang explanation how..hehheh God is good talaga!) Not to mention, the master's bedroom has it's own bathroom and a balcony... and I have a walk-in closet :) :) :) every girl's dream :) :)
our new bedroom in our new home
+ Friday..we immediately got the keys to the new house. We had favor from the landlady. They let us moved in even though we didn't have money to pay the 2 months deposit and 1 month advance.
at our new place.. during Danny's bday
+ Our friends and our spiritual family in Victory Fort and Ortigas , and folks from Edge Radio and so many others blessed us so we can buy stuff we needed for the house. They donated money, milk, canned goods, rice, and we got 2 big boxes of kitchen stuff from Danny's boss (luminarc pa and japanese bowls) wala talaga akong masabi kay God :) My sister Peachy even bought us a 7ft Christmas tree to replace our small mud-covered Christmas tree we threw after the storm.
+ Danny got a bunch of extra sideline projects to help pay for all of the skyhigh costs of repairing the car and all the moving expenses.. and I got some bookings to help out too. + To top it all off: Last week I won at Wowowee's Willie of Fortune as one of their celebrity contestants. With this, I can bless my mom and dad as they celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary!! Click here to see how I won it and the story behind it :) http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?comments&v=180183832423 .....I know God is our provider...and He knows our needs and the desires of our hearts. I also know that God allows things to happen for a purpose--sometimes we may feel that He is not listening because nothing's happening and there are no breakthroughs... but it's because he checks our hearts..he looks at our motives, and he molds our character...The world will tempt us to compromise during the hard times...the question is, will you trust God and still obey and follow his ways? or will you compromise your faith and choose the easier route? Will you allow God to move in your life by obeying Him and waiting upon Him or will you go ahead of God and do your will rather His will? If you're reading this blog... I assure you, if you decide to follow God now and surrender...then you'll live a life with no regrets.. It's NOT gonna be a perfect life... but it's an adventure that you wouldn't want to miss.. A journey where you'll get to know who God really is...and how much He loves you. It's not a storm free life.. but it'll be a storm-proofed life... a life to the full...a preparation for eternity with Him in heaven :) :) this is just the beginning of the road :) :)
